Detecting crime has become reality

Hello World, I've been absent for a while, my apologies. So what's new in the world today.

EA recently released a new Battlefield 3 trailer that shows us in great detail the cars, planes and helicopters that will be used in the new game. They have a great trailer. Just head over to YouTube and you will be able to see under EAVision channel.

In the news where reality meets fiction. You guys ever watched the movie Minority Report, staring Tom Cruse. If, you haven't, the movie is about being able to predict crimes before they actually are committed. Just like you can weather is predicted these days. In the movie, the detectives would actually be able to see the crime happen in the future and then make an arrest before it actually happened.

In real life something similar is happening. Santa Cruz, California police department have been recently equipped with high tech computers that can predict crime before it happens. Now don't get so excited, it is no Minority Report movie. This is just the beginning, through a very complicated algorithm, it detects potential areas that will be targeted. The interesting thing is that it actually gives the offices the location, time window of crime and what kind of crime.

So far since they started using it, they have arrested several people in the act. Things are moving forward with technology these days. The days of talking to each other over a handheld device is already here, which once was just a science fiction dream from sci-fi movies and T.V. shows.

Nintendo Wii: U went the wrong way

E3 Expo has ended and from several sources on the internet, investors are not that excited about Nintendo's Wii U system that has not been unveiled yet. The only thigh that was unveiled at E3 Nintendo conference was the controller which is to be used with the new Wii U system to be brought to light in 2012.

Even after the conference ended, G4 TV's Adam Sessler was confused along with the other hosts watching the press conference live.

I can't say that I blame them. In a way now I know why Steve Jobs did not announce the new iPhone 5 or any details regarding the new phone. It would be weird if he would just show us a phone case and said, " look at how incredible this iPhone 5 cover looks , you guys can only imagine the possibilities that the new iPhone will have."

That is kind of dumb which is what Nintendo did during their press conference. We can't just go by what a controller looks like. Not even details or specs where given on the new Nintendo U coming next year. Making us just speculate on what it will be like. The bad news is that soon after the conference, several online articles where noted saying that the graphic demos used for Nintendo, where actual game demos of games being developed for PS3 and XBOX 360. Not only did Nintendo not show an actual Nintendo U system, but lied of what its games in production look like.

I myself, believe it was a mistake to show what their system was going to be capable of doing. Some quick demos that they showed during the conference still showed the same round miis used in the Wii, just at higher resolution.

This year their where no new major update of the current consoles shown or specs given. Only Sony brought forward the new PSVita which will definitely get some gamers attention with beautiful graphics, front and back touch abilities. In all Sony came up on top with their overall conference, Microsoft , then Nintendo last.

Battlefield 3 at E3 Expo better than MW3

E3 is on its way and it looks like EA has brought down the house with many E3 award nominations, with their best of show of Battlefield 3 demo/multiplayer gameplay.

Notification center – lets you get all notifications from top of phone by swiping down , sort of like android phones today.

Reader – gives you a better reading experience with your devices, which now includes a reading list as well.

Reminders – It is a better way to organize your reminders, with alarms, own integrated reminder app.

Camera – A new lock screen short cut to the camera app, so it can get easier to get to faster. Zoom in directly by just holding a place you want to zoom. ow you can edit them directly on your iPhone with camera integrated editor to crop/ cut/paste, change exposure.

WWDC 2011 live kicks off

    The begin by announcing their new OS X Lion for their Mac line up, with new multi touch touch pad. New photo booth coming soon with face recognition. Nothing that exciting yet. Many are waiting to see an update in phone too and wait for the unveiling of the iPhone 5 or next generation iPhone.

Sony, Apple and Microsoft in the Spotlight this month

Today in the tech world, I'm going to talk to you guys about three hot topics that is on several tech savvy minds this month.

These topics are not in any particular order:

1. Sony Welcome back package is on live on PlayStation Store

Sony gives us the welcome back package of free downloads and servers have been getting overwhelmed with all the download traffic hitting it. After all, there are only over a million subscribers that know about this free stuff.
In the Sony blog, you can find messages stating to try again if you receive a error message to download. I'm pretty sure many gamers expected this to happen, which includes me.
Even with those overload issues on their store network, we are glad that things are getting back the way it needs to be. What games do I download? If you are a hardcore gamer that loves all games, you probably bought or downloaded all the games they are offering for free.
This comes to a disappointment to many new PS3 owners because the free downloads only are being given to registered owners from May 20, 2011 and before. Hopefully you didn't buy a PS3 for that particular reason.

2. Apple Developers Conference 2011

Which will be held from June 6 - 10 in California. Apple has gain so much momentum with a large fan base which now look forward to see what the future holds. Every year in June, Apple gives us something new, they revolutionized the mobile world with their introduction of the original iphone and iOS mobile operating system. Gave thousands of developers the ability to make money from home. Last year they introduced a newly designed iPhone 4. It does not make sense for them to stand back and let Android OS beat them.
There have been many rumors and predictions on what will be next, but this time around apple has been really quiet and have kept their new technology away from prying eyes without any leaks to the internet other than a manufacturer that says they have actual iPhone 5 parts that suggest a larger screen. We can only wait and see if the next iPhone will really be called the iPhone 5 or just iPhone 4S. What are your thoughts on it? If interested many popular blogs will be giving direct feed from the event.

3. E3

This exposition in Los Angeles has become a main place for gaming companies to show what new hardware or software improvements will be of their current consoles and a place to show off new gaming titles.
Many are expecting the anticipated Wii 2 at the Nintendo conference. Nintendo has re-won the hearts of many gamers with the introduction of their motion sensing controllers, but excluded HD capabilities. Even with that missing, Nintendo pushed forward with millions of sales above the competition, lets see what they have in store for us this year.
Sony has sent out invitations to many with invitation to a 5 hour long conference to show off what they have. Lets just hope it's not 3 hours of saying I am sorry and actually show what is new and what we are to expect with the improvements with the PlayStation console and where it is headed. PS3 is suppose to have a 10 year life span, lets see if they keep milking it or go forward with a new console. Rumors have surfaced of the PS4 in development. Could E3 be a place for new hardware unveiling?
Microsoft has it's own conference too, and they too have been working on their next generation console. Let's see what they bring to the table this year.

It is an exciting month for many techies out there and are looking forward to see what new technology brings. With Intel's new 3D transistor, we are very likely to see more powerful and energy efficient systems. Nintendo introducing the Wii 2 will surely place them ahead of the game with better HD system, which should have a better graphics card and more memory than existing game consoles, but not necessarily the best. Will a new XBOX bring blu-ray to its systems. Will there be price drops on all systems. One thing for sure is that they all will be competing to be at the center of your living room as your entertainment station, with Wifi connectivity that will let you connect online and get the most of it. Let the game console domination wars continue.

This headset is going to give us 7.1 virtual surround sound, this is what it is presume to look like. It looks really nice and stylish. I like how sleek it looks. Target PS3 160Gig deal is real

I recently got a picture from blog reader Juan from southern california, L.A. area that the deal is very real as he e-mailed me a photo as proof.

Earlier in the day people where saying that it was only for particular blu-ray movies not just any blu-ray movie. Word has spread quickly and Target stores are selling out quickly. Many where saying they where having luck with the purchase of 40 year old virgin blu-ray for only $10 dollars. That exactly what he did.

Photo on the above shows coupon that printed out that says, "$100 Target Gift Card with the purchase of PS3 hardware bundle." So that is 100 dollars back as soon as you purchase the PS3 160 Gig bundle. Then on top of that you get 60 dollars for purchasing a PS3.

Reader, Juan, confirmed this via e-mail that he received 2 Gift cards for those separate amounts. He purchased that particular blu-ray and he received that coupon towards the PS3. Thank you Juan for the photo, glad you where able to take advantage of this deal.

According to him, he tried several Target stores and where sold out, he even found out that many employees where not aware of the deals going on. With the original $60 gift card, PS3 units where being sold quickly. According to store associate, they sell fast when they have gift card deals.

Now all we need is for the PlayStation Store to get back online. I know several are ready for some online store items, including the free games Sony promised for the delay.

Sony PS3 for $140 at Target this week

There is an article from the examiner out today that states that you can purchase a PS3 for as little as $140 dollars at target stores.

This is the catch, you have to purchase a Blu-ray movie to receive a 100 dollar gift card towards a PS3 only. Then they are also running a promotion this week that ends Saturday, May 28th, 2011 that gives you a 60 dollar gift card for purchasing a PS3.

Now the article states that you can purchase the 160GB PS3 using both gift cards together, but there have been several attempts from others and have not been successful at getting both discounts most likely because you get the 60 dollars after you purchase the PS3.
Regardless, if you just buy the blu-ray movie you already get 100 gift card that can defiantly be used to buy PS3. Just make sure to purchase the movie first and then go buy PS3. You can try by asking the manager that you want to use both and if there is a way to get them, but can’t guarantee it.

Virus: Fake Windows 7 anti-virus programs

This past weekend I was called 3 different occasions for computers that where infected with viruses. They all had a a virus that resembled windows 7 restore backup. It was just a mimic and fake attempt to get information from client and place all your credit card information. They where a little tricky to remove but it easy once you obtain location of virus.

For one computer, it had all hidden files, many files allocated in different locations. Several sector where damaged, and it infiltrated their registry system. Luckly Windows 7 has this remarkable ability to self erase and copy new files that where corrupted. That allowed all the improper shortcuts and commands to be restored to normal.

I don't blame the computer users that got infected, they just didn't know better due to their knowledge on what programs really look like. This malware program looked like an actual windows program that said a virus was detected in your system and it would scan your computer and tell you that your PC was infected when that program was the actual infection.

I had to kill the unknown programs first and then use malware software to remove them. If you don't have a virus or malware on your computer right now, I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials, it works great and best of all it is free.

Better to be safe than sorry later, for all you techs, even though you might know about fixing PC's. It is always better to never have to go through that headache and lost of time doing it.

So be ware of pop ups that say that viruses are detected, specially when the program telling you that is not even installed on your system. Use common sense, and stay away from websites that are not safe, and of course stay away from hacked programs or key generators that will infect your PC with a virus.

PlayStation Returning services sections at a time

So PlayStation blog has been constantly been updating the page with what parts are being re-stored. E-mail password verification got to overwhelming for the servers that they had to stop the service for 30 minutes to clear the queue.
Now many would be able to reset their password from their PS3 directly unless you had a different one than the original you registered. I guess many don’t have their same PS3 anymore. I actually found that confusing since I originally had a 20 gig PS3 and then bought 60 gig, I guess it is the last one used before it got hacked.

Sony gives us, Kazuo Hirai, giving all of us details on restoration and a clear apology, which all PS3 gamers are sure to received with appreciation.

PS3 should have all it’s network up this week if all goes well. Thanks Sony for the updates. They are going to even through in a few perks for being patient and for the troubles of waiting.
Changing the password is simple through PS3, but I found problems at the beginning downloading it directly and that could be because of the server overload. So I downloaded the firmware via PSN page update, then used USB to install on PS3 which worked like a charm. Just make sure you make a folder named “PS3”, then another within that says “Update.”
After update, I tried to load a PSN game and it froze, so I had to re-start my PS3 and all worked well afterwards.
Well, hope all goes well for the rest of you PS3 gamers. GAME ON!

PlayStation gives PSN users another update regarding the restoration of the playstation network. This time saying," At this time, I can't give you an exact date, as it will likely be at least a few more days."

The new update should bring joy to many gamers knowing that Sony is closer to getting all services back online. This update is just to change password and prepare system for when network is back online.

Microsoft gaining more momentum as PSN still down

Microsoft just posted some victory numbers on how well XBOX 360 is doing in sales up 60% year over year. They easily beat PS3 sales due to one very important thing which is Online Gaming still not back up.

Kinet is what Microsoft says is the driving force, but even GameStop has received lots of trades after second week of system being down. It's kind of clear that this is damaging Sony in reputation and sales.



PlayStation Network still under heavy maintenance getting security implemented for this time around. Many are still holding on to their PS3's for single player and mainly for the blu-ray experience.

I would not be surprised if sales men at any retail store are letting buyers know that PS3 system was hacked and they can't access online features until it is fixed. If buyers ask when will it be back, they will simply say, " We don't know." That is because Sony doesn't know either. Come on Sony, this does not look good for you.

Battlefield 3 Beta coming soon

Battlefield 3 Beta to roll out in October 2011 per EA blog, for the people that purchased Medal of Honor Limited Edition.

Be warned as EA blog states the following: "If you’re on Twitter — and you probably are — you might have noticed some folks out there claiming they just signed up for a Battlefield 3 beta, and offer you a link to click. So don't be fooled to believe those lies. Game is due at the end of the year if all goes well, and beta will be kind of late but it is coming. All we can do for now is wait patiently kicking online butt with BFBC2 and MOH.

PlayStation Network: Next week came and went out the window

Sony has not rolled out update to let players back online and many are getting very inpatient. They have to understand that Sony will not place the service back online until they are confident that the system is ready to go to avoid future attacks.

This can take some time, someone on twitter had a point on comments section to PlayStation's blog that made sense.

Their comment stated that as soon as Sony brings the system back online that it will be hacked again. Yes, it is definitely a possibility, after all hackers strive to break code to accommodate and remove restrictions placed on the full potential of equipment.

We can only wait and see how well Sony implements their new security update. One thing is that if it goes live soon and soon after it goes down again, then PSN multiplayer gamers will start to look someplace else. That is a key feature that many purchase game consoles or games. Single player is not as popular anymore. There is nothing more entertaining than seeing someone loose on the opposite team and know that they are sitting in front of TV/Computer just like you. As a gamer you can imagine what they are thinking. Yes, at the end it's just a game but great competition is always fun.

iOS 5 introducing Over-The-Air Firmware updates

Apple might have a new update up their sleeves with iOS 5 which reports show might bring Over-The-Air Firmware update.

If they decide to use over the air update with 3G then more compresses packages are needed or they should only use Wi-Fi as a source of update download for huge files over 600 megs.

We will see what happens, but all the new technology on the rise it does not surprise me that this will actually be implemented for convenience and the fact that more and more people on the go are using tablets and handhelds than PC's these days for ease of use.

New 3D transistor to change the world of electronics

Intel has announced a new 3D “Tri-Gate” transistor to hit the market soon and go into mass production. It will allow the company to keep shrinking chips. From my understanding and overview, this transistor will definitely affect all of our new technology next year.
It will decrease energy consumption, allow for batteries to last longer, increase speed and efficiency. This is great and wanted to share it with you. Watch the video below from Intel.

Intel’s New 3D transistor to change the world of electronics once again.

Wow!, it is something to look forward to in near future in laptops, mobile devices, netbooks, etc.
According to Intel, we will see the new technology first in its 22nm Ivy Bridge CPU’s, going into mass production in the second half of the year, and it’s planning 14nm chips in 2013 and 10nm chips in 2015.

PlayStation Network unavailable

PlayStation network is still down, I didn't want to write something until I gave them a chance to fix it or explain it within a few days but it did not happen.

Yesterday I received and email describing the full "REAL" problem behind this network being down and I am quite disturbed by what was being hidden by simply stating that it was undergoing maintenance instead.

Not cool at all Sony, but thank you for finally coming clean with the truth, giving several of us credit card users the ability to place a hold on any transactions or checking as soon as it was hacked.

We are still waiting, but patience is not a virtue a lot of gamers have. Yes, the service is free but at minimum the subscribers should be informed of breaches like that as soon as possible. Let's hope you make the wait worth it with added security and more details and answers.

Doesn't feel good to come clean?

When is the last time you cleaned your PC?

So you purchased a computer a while ago and have been happy with it but lately is is running slower and noisy. What could be the problem you ask.

It could be the memory, hard drive, processor or even a virus, but many people forget about keeping the computer nice and clean inside. The most common sound that tells you the computer needs a cleaning are the fans inside keeping your components nice an cool to keep the degrees within manufacturer specifications for better performance.

Over time the personal computer being a desktop or laptop will get dirty inside due to every day air conditions. Overwhelming amount of dirt build up can cause your fans to overwork and decrease cooling performance.

For example: imagine yourself with and without a heavy coat in 80 degree temperature. A dirty fan is like you wearing a heavy coat. Not so comfortable is it? plus you loose energy and your performance decreases dramatically.

That is exactly what happens to the fans and components inside your computers. They get layers of dirt build up and eventually it is heavy enough to reduce the speed and performance it needs to maintain the correct temperatures it needs to keep the area nice and cool. Some components don't have fans so they really on being free of any extra layers of any type to maintain cool with the ambient air.

These factors slow down your computers performance because they have to work harder causing the air temperature to increase making components space hotter.

What to do if you find yourself with a dirty PC: CLEAN UP

Warning: make sure you always turn power off to units before working on them and never use liquids to clean dirt, you will cause mud build up.

For desktops: just open case and expose the motherboard, use an air can to blow away dirt at fans and rest of components. If your desktop is really dirty, it is recommended that you blow it down, outside.

Laptops: don't take apart anything, just locate the fan(s) and any open spaces and entrances and use special little hose that comes with air canister to blow into those holes, leave the other spaces open so the dirt blows out in that direction.

If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, CONSULT or have a computer technician take care of it for you. Specially if you see layer and layers of dirt on components, they might need to be detailed.

Kung-Fu Live Comics on PS3 are fun.

Hello, so I had some time on my hands and decided to try a demo on the PlayStation Network called Kung-Fu Live.

Heard some bad reviews before downloading it, but decided to get the demo to try it out for myself. The game requires a PlayStation Eye to get you into the game. After making a few adjustments I got myself into the game in no time. Here is a video I posted on youtube that gives you an idea of what the comic looks like. Enjoy!

Iphone 4 loosing battery charge

Have you noticed your iphone 4 battery life decreasing after you updated ro iOS 4.3.

Problem has been found with ping program that new iOS 4.3 has, you need to disable it.

Go to: Settings > General > Restrictions

Then enter a 4 digit password that you want and it will allow you to make changes to what you allow to run.

Turn PING off and you are set, battery life should increase. Apple needs to take care of this as soon as they can.

Ipad 2 arrives tomorrow

Ipad 2 to arrive in stores by 5:00pm, will u be in line for the new version. Unit seems to have nice addition in speed. We will see if we can pre-order for store pick up at midnight.

iOS 4.3 Mobile Hotspot upgrade

So with new iOS 4.3 update coming soon on March 11,2011, iPhone 4 users will have the capability to use their phones as a mobile hotspot in order to allow other devices to  connect to the internet. Cool right?, not so cool a price.

Thinking this upgrade would be free, the service would be free according to your monthly allowance of data that you pay for. Unfortunately that is not the case. AT&T will charge an extra 20 dollars a month to use it and you must be under a 2 gig a month data cap to use it.

Leaving grandfathered unlimited data plans in the dark with, we add this new feature but you pay for it cause it does not matter how much data you have. Not cool at all. Let’s see once it comes out to all what they end up with.
