Do I need an new iPhone? iPhone 7

Apple recently had their press conference and revealed to the world the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. I watched the conference and besides being awed by the new gadgets I was asking myself a single question.

Do I need a new iPhone?

Now that might not seem to be everyone else's question but it was mine and for the single reason that I've had my phone for two years and usually upgrade every two years, but...

Do I need a new iPhone?

I currently have the iPhone 6 and it does all I need it to do with good enough speed. Battery life is still reasonably good and Phone still looks great. Photos taken with camera are pretty good for a mobile device and processor is keeping up with application I currently have on it.

Still looks similar to iPhone 6, same style. If I were to upgrade, I think this time I would consider buying the new iPhone 7 Plus. Not only for the larger screen, but better battery life and dual camera. During the conference they emphasized  on the camera aspect quite a bit of time and for good reason. The dual camera add new features that no other phone has which is the ability to take great photos similar to an DSLR. No, we are  not quite there Apple, but it's a great start and photos look great.

Really liked the blurred background effect and focus on person, no need to buy DSLR or editing program to achieve them with nice quality for beginners in photography. Dual camera feature phone will be great for vacations and on the go. No need to carry a larger camera around. I'm own a Nikon DSLR camera and learning curve was a little tough for a beginner. That is one reason Apple products are so popular, they just work and are simple to use. All processes are made with it's software and hardware. All you have to do is point, wait a few milliseconds for it to focus, press the button to shoot the photo and voila. Done, great photo.

New wireless headphones a.k.a. Air Pods. To soon to jump into them and too pricey. It is a bold move to be made by Apple and someone has to start right? To new for me. It's like the original iPhone, perhaps 2nd or 3rd generation will be better, more battery life than 5 hrs. etc. of course they will. Why wouldn't they?

Back to the question at hand: do I need a new iPhone?

The answer is simply no.

I don't have a dual lens but I'm fine with it. I don't have a faster processor, more memory or larger screen and I'm fine with it. The reason is because every year a new phone is revealed, mainly because technology grows at such a rapid pace that there will always be something better and bigger. My current phone will support new iOS10, it will support the Air Pods in case I want to use them.

DO YOU NEED ONE? Read below then watch the link to video of new iPhone 7.

If you have never had one and plan to jump into Apple iPhone, the answer is YES, jump in, you will love it if you just want a phone that works. If you own an older iPhone and want to upgrade, I would recommend it for iPhone 5 users and bellow. It will be a huge upgrade from what you have in all aspects. If you have an iPhone 6, then ask you self the same question I have been asking myself, "Do I need a new iPhone?

In-case you haven't seen it here it is

iPhone 8? Anyone. Drastic changes are short coming to the phone. OMLED displays perhaps in near future. YES, YES, YES. All will be better and while my phone still has life in it, I will continue to use it until apps get drastically slower or when someone gives me one to review and keep. (wink)

Thank for reading, have great day.

Nintendo Wii: U went the wrong way

E3 Expo has ended and from several sources on the internet, investors are not that excited about Nintendo's Wii U system that has not been unveiled yet. The only thigh that was unveiled at E3 Nintendo conference was the controller which is to be used with the new Wii U system to be brought to light in 2012.

Even after the conference ended, G4 TV's Adam Sessler was confused along with the other hosts watching the press conference live.

I can't say that I blame them. In a way now I know why Steve Jobs did not announce the new iPhone 5 or any details regarding the new phone. It would be weird if he would just show us a phone case and said, " look at how incredible this iPhone 5 cover looks , you guys can only imagine the possibilities that the new iPhone will have."

That is kind of dumb which is what Nintendo did during their press conference. We can't just go by what a controller looks like. Not even details or specs where given on the new Nintendo U coming next year. Making us just speculate on what it will be like. The bad news is that soon after the conference, several online articles where noted saying that the graphic demos used for Nintendo, where actual game demos of games being developed for PS3 and XBOX 360. Not only did Nintendo not show an actual Nintendo U system, but lied of what its games in production look like.

I myself, believe it was a mistake to show what their system was going to be capable of doing. Some quick demos that they showed during the conference still showed the same round miis used in the Wii, just at higher resolution.

This year their where no new major update of the current consoles shown or specs given. Only Sony brought forward the new PSVita which will definitely get some gamers attention with beautiful graphics, front and back touch abilities. In all Sony came up on top with their overall conference, Microsoft , then Nintendo last.

Sony, Apple and Microsoft in the Spotlight this month

Today in the tech world, I'm going to talk to you guys about three hot topics that is on several tech savvy minds this month.

These topics are not in any particular order:

1. Sony Welcome back package is on live on PlayStation Store

Sony gives us the welcome back package of free downloads and servers have been getting overwhelmed with all the download traffic hitting it. After all, there are only over a million subscribers that know about this free stuff.
In the Sony blog, you can find messages stating to try again if you receive a error message to download. I'm pretty sure many gamers expected this to happen, which includes me.
Even with those overload issues on their store network, we are glad that things are getting back the way it needs to be. What games do I download? If you are a hardcore gamer that loves all games, you probably bought or downloaded all the games they are offering for free.
This comes to a disappointment to many new PS3 owners because the free downloads only are being given to registered owners from May 20, 2011 and before. Hopefully you didn't buy a PS3 for that particular reason.

2. Apple Developers Conference 2011

Which will be held from June 6 - 10 in California. Apple has gain so much momentum with a large fan base which now look forward to see what the future holds. Every year in June, Apple gives us something new, they revolutionized the mobile world with their introduction of the original iphone and iOS mobile operating system. Gave thousands of developers the ability to make money from home. Last year they introduced a newly designed iPhone 4. It does not make sense for them to stand back and let Android OS beat them.
There have been many rumors and predictions on what will be next, but this time around apple has been really quiet and have kept their new technology away from prying eyes without any leaks to the internet other than a manufacturer that says they have actual iPhone 5 parts that suggest a larger screen. We can only wait and see if the next iPhone will really be called the iPhone 5 or just iPhone 4S. What are your thoughts on it? If interested many popular blogs will be giving direct feed from the event.

3. E3

This exposition in Los Angeles has become a main place for gaming companies to show what new hardware or software improvements will be of their current consoles and a place to show off new gaming titles.
Many are expecting the anticipated Wii 2 at the Nintendo conference. Nintendo has re-won the hearts of many gamers with the introduction of their motion sensing controllers, but excluded HD capabilities. Even with that missing, Nintendo pushed forward with millions of sales above the competition, lets see what they have in store for us this year.
Sony has sent out invitations to many with invitation to a 5 hour long conference to show off what they have. Lets just hope it's not 3 hours of saying I am sorry and actually show what is new and what we are to expect with the improvements with the PlayStation console and where it is headed. PS3 is suppose to have a 10 year life span, lets see if they keep milking it or go forward with a new console. Rumors have surfaced of the PS4 in development. Could E3 be a place for new hardware unveiling?
Microsoft has it's own conference too, and they too have been working on their next generation console. Let's see what they bring to the table this year.

It is an exciting month for many techies out there and are looking forward to see what new technology brings. With Intel's new 3D transistor, we are very likely to see more powerful and energy efficient systems. Nintendo introducing the Wii 2 will surely place them ahead of the game with better HD system, which should have a better graphics card and more memory than existing game consoles, but not necessarily the best. Will a new XBOX bring blu-ray to its systems. Will there be price drops on all systems. One thing for sure is that they all will be competing to be at the center of your living room as your entertainment station, with Wifi connectivity that will let you connect online and get the most of it. Let the game console domination wars continue.

iOS 5 introducing Over-The-Air Firmware updates

Apple might have a new update up their sleeves with iOS 5 which reports show might bring Over-The-Air Firmware update.

If they decide to use over the air update with 3G then more compresses packages are needed or they should only use Wi-Fi as a source of update download for huge files over 600 megs.

We will see what happens, but all the new technology on the rise it does not surprise me that this will actually be implemented for convenience and the fact that more and more people on the go are using tablets and handhelds than PC's these days for ease of use.

Iphone 4 loosing battery charge

Have you noticed your iphone 4 battery life decreasing after you updated ro iOS 4.3.

Problem has been found with ping program that new iOS 4.3 has, you need to disable it.

Go to: Settings > General > Restrictions

Then enter a 4 digit password that you want and it will allow you to make changes to what you allow to run.

Turn PING off and you are set, battery life should increase. Apple needs to take care of this as soon as they can.

iOS 4.3 Mobile Hotspot upgrade

So with new iOS 4.3 update coming soon on March 11,2011, iPhone 4 users will have the capability to use their phones as a mobile hotspot in order to allow other devices to  connect to the internet. Cool right?, not so cool a price.

Thinking this upgrade would be free, the service would be free according to your monthly allowance of data that you pay for. Unfortunately that is not the case. AT&T will charge an extra 20 dollars a month to use it and you must be under a 2 gig a month data cap to use it.

Leaving grandfathered unlimited data plans in the dark with, we add this new feature but you pay for it cause it does not matter how much data you have. Not cool at all. Let’s see once it comes out to all what they end up with.

iOS 4.2 update for iPhone and iPad delayed

ios4.2

So new update was suppose to be issue through iTunes this past Friday 11/12/10, but no luck.

Apple has delayed it until after thanksgiving right before thanksgiving weekend.

Looking forward to new editions, specially the ability to print any document or web page that you are on, it will help out a lot, including e-mails. I'm pretty sure several people have just stay with iPhone and not even purchased a laptop/notebook because they just check e-mail or search something online. iPhone just is the fastest and convenient way to do it.

We will see, it's about time for some more improvements in software. Looking forward to it, are you?

They are not angry with 2 million downloads

Angry Birds has been release on android and it was downloaded 2 million times in less than 3 days. WOW! Incredible. The developers sure have nothing to be angry about with great results.

It is currently available for android devices for free with add support but developer promises new add free version soon. iPhone has surpassed 8 million downloads for Angry Birds. It is a great game that is perfect for mobile devices.

It is even being developed for PS3 and Xbox 360. To make things better, it only costs one US dollar to download for iPhone. Very nice price, graphics, gameplay and very entertaining.

I played the light version and full version and both offer same gameplay just less levels on light version(free) for the iPhone. It’s a great game and you won’t be disappointed, so head over and download it. It’s a must have for mobile downloads.

iPhone 4 firmware update: Sensor issue slightly got better and HDR pictures that help out with quality.

This is just a quick update on Sensor and HDR pictures with new iPhone Update 4.1

Part 1:

Now, starting with sensor problem. I was so happy to be reading several articles that the sensor was fixed. Fixed? hmm, yeah fixed according to many apple users that had GM final software. Before I go on, is it me or newer hardware is always suppose to be the same or better with certain functions/ updates?

My iPhone 3G’s proximity sensor is far superior to iPhone 4’s proximity sensor by 1 inch in distance and I’m able to move it up and down, side to side while speaking on phone.  So here is the story, I went ahead and updated my iPhone 4’s firmware to 4.1 the morning it got released. At first glance the phone proximity sensor testing was doing great. I made a call and started testing distances, movement and lighting. I was getting 2 to over 2 inches of distance with it not turning back on, I was impressed.

Then all went down hill that night after work. I was sitting in my car, pretty dark. Made a phone call and noticed red proximity light bright. Then I continued the conversation and noticed screen flashing. It would do it when phone was next head, it started warming. Getting hot, perhaps it kept flashing the screen often. I stopped the conversation and decided to test it at home. I got home made a call to other cell phone and screen would keep on turning on and off when it was next to my ear. Several times I had it pressed against my ear and it would not turn off and I would end up pressing facetime or mute with my cheek. I could not believe that with the firmware update my phone had gotten worst

I stopped testing and got my wife’s iPhone 3G to test same number to call and same distances. WOW! what a difference, proximity sensor was working great. It can be moved back and forth a few inches, and moved around quite a bit with no interference. iPhone 3G was over 2 years old and had better proximity sensitivity than iPhone 4. I was frustrated, so took it in the next morning to Apple to get it replaced. Before I did , I called apple and tech said that iPhone 4 cannot be compared to iPhone 3G’s proximity sensor because they are in different places. Yes, that is true. IPhone 4 proximity sensor is right above ear speaker and iPhone 3G’s proximity sensor is to the left of ear speaker. IPhone 4, had to make that change for camera, fair enough, but why did it get worst than iPhone 3G’s sensor.

I was not happy, but Apple likes their customers and likes to keep us happy. Their customer service is great, and they work with you. So I'm in the Apple store and show him pictures and take iPhone 3G to show difference between old device and new. They go ahead and swap out my phone. I am a happy camper, test the new phone in store with firmware update 4.02 and seems to be working better than the one I had but not as good as iPhone 3G.  I get home and begging upgrading to firmware 4.1, during that time thinking to myself (this is great! new firmware will surely give this proximity sensor more accuracy, can’t wait)

Update completed, says my ITunes screen, great. Get the phone and begging the testing.

Called another phone and began testing. HUH, mixed emotions came over me. Proximity sensor not working near as good as iPhone 3G, but much better. During the times I made calls it did not once hang up, accidently hit mute or begin FaceTime call with it.

The screen would still turn off and on but be dimmer, maybe it stops it from hitting keys on phone while in call. Overall it is working better. It could also be because I have a new phone and my old phone’s proximity sensor was not working correctly. Until now, it seems that it is not completely fixed. It is a great phone but still has does hick ups.  I know there are others out there with same problem, what do you guys have to say, write your comments below.

Part 2: HDR photos with iPhone 4

I recently attended a weeding was an official photographer, noticed I don’t say professional because I was using my iPhone 4. Those pictures looked pretty good, actually much better than others. Won’t post those but will post a few Star Wars Collectable photos I took indoors. You can defiantly tell the difference there.  See photos and read labels.

On this photo you see it bright and text on paper above helmet is to bright to tell what it is, check out right picture with HDR enabled.

On this photo you can see detail on paper above helmet. You can even see where I edited some private information.

IMG_0084    NO HDR

IMG_0085    HDR Enabled

IMG_0086 NO HDR

IMG_0087 HDR Enabled

I believe indoors in dark spaces it works good, makes the picture brighter and more detailed. Outdoors the pictures look a little to bright and colors kind of wash away. But it is a great option to have, definitely a great add-on to the iPhone camera. You can take HDR photos in landscape or portrait. When taking HDR photos you will notice a delay back the camera view because it takes a few seconds to store 2 images into you photo library but not an annoyance. Which you do you guys like better, leave you comments below.

iPhone 4: New hard case scratch resistant cover

by:  NavasTech

So I was searching for an iPhone 4 cover to protect my new iPhone and at the same time allow me to use my aftermarket chargers. I had several chargers that just do not fit properly with new iPhone bumper. That is another blog all together. I'm just saying why is it they came out with the bumpers when iPhone came out, did they know about antenna problem? Just thinking out loud.

OK, back to the topic. I searched around and purchased and returned a few covers that I had purchased a major retail stores. Then I found one that just fit right, and made the phone look great. Plus easy to remove but not by mistake. Check out the photos below.

iPhone 4 cover back side upside down and front

iPhone / cover back / cover front facing backwards

iPhone  / back cover facing back / front cover facing front up

cover installed

Sim Card opening

Back side, very easy to clean

Top view, audio jack and power button.

Bottom speakers and power/data connection, nice amount of space, other chargers work great.

Phone turned ON, looks good
It's simple and easy to install, makes  phone look good, does not show iPhone logo, but it does the job it is needed for. Purchased it from the mall at a phone station, manufacturer: ZiZo wireless

Update:

If you purchase any of these covers at their stations, ask them for a discount, they will work with you. Normal price of $29.99, got mine half off.
